친구들은 비밀을 함께 나눈다.
만약 우리가 그분의 말씀에 대해 하루 종일 생각하는 습관을 기른다면 하나님은 당신의 비밀을 우리와 나누실 것이다. 하나님은 아브라함에게 당신의 비밀을 말씀하셨다. 다니엘, 바울, 제자들 그리고 다른 친구들에게도 그렇게 하셨다(창 18:17, 단 2:19, 고전 2:7-10).

욥과 다윗이 하나님의 가까운 친구가 될 수 있었던 이유는 그들이 하나님의 말씀을 무엇보다 소중하게 생각했고, 하루 종일 생각했기 때문이다. 욥은 “나는 내 일용할 양식보다 그의 말씀을 더 소중하게 여겼다”(욥 23:12, NIV)라고 시인했다. 다윗은 “내가 주의 법을 어찌 그리 사랑하는지요 내가 그것을 종일 묵상하나이다”(시 119:97), “또 주의 모든 일을 묵상하며 주의 행사를 깊이 생각하리이다”(시 77:12)라고 말했다.
